Tech Adventures

Welcome to WVU Tech’s new adventure recreation program, launching August 2016. Our program offers students opportunities to challenge themselves to reach new heights both physically and mentally. Travel with Tech Adventures leaders and fellow students to experience the trails, rivers and cliffs of our region to see a new place, learn a new skill and find out what you are really capable of. Tech Adventures offers a variety of ways to help students get out into the great outdoors with trips, classes, seminars, planning resources and equipment rental. Study hard and play hard to make the most out your college experience.


Outdoor Orientation Program

Start your college adventure with an outdoor trip, Tech Outdoor Orientation (TOO). Rock climb, paddle and hike your way toward success in college. Through TOO you’ll experience some of the best adventure in the region, make new friends and learn strategies to help navigate the challenges of college. If you’d like a more in-depth course in an adventure skill or are interested in learning about the adventure recreation industry, consider an academic course. Adventure Outings

New River Rafting

Throughout the year, Tech Adventures offers opportunities for students to get off campus and experience the wilds of the New River Gorge region and beyond. Our single and multi-day trips are led by trained leaders with high-quality outdoor equipment and include hiking, paddling, climbing, biking and skiing in the best destinations.

If you already have the skills but need equipment, visit the Tech Adventures Equipment Rental Center at 704 South Kanawha Street. When not in use for trips, current WVU Tech students and staff have access to a variety of camping equipment for their personal trips.
